Woodbridge farmers’ & Fine Foods market is one of the oldest
farmers’ markets in the country established in 1999. Set up
under the initiative ‘Local Agenda 21’ with help from Suffolk
Coastal District Council, the aim was to encourage the provision
of local food for local people by local producers. As well as benefiting
local communities it benefits the environment, with less ‘food miles’,
benefits the consumer with the freshest of product, and creates
wealth that flows into the local community.
There is also the chance to ‘meet the producer’ face to face,
which brings the benefit of food security. The aim is to
bring the finest products to the market visitor, protecting
local food producers for the future of the next
generation.
